Hawaiian Sandwich

***Found on Alpine Lace Swiss Cheese package***

1 16 oz round Hawaiian sweet bread loaf
3/4 cup deli spinach dip
4 leaf lettuce leaves
16 slices ham, chicken, or turkey
8 slices cheese (your favorite variety)
Pineapple and cherries for decoration

  • Cut bread into 10 1/2-inch slices; remove 2 small end slices.
  • Spread spinach dip over one side of remaining 8 bread slices.
  • Layer four bread slices with 1 lettuce leaf; 4 slices of ham, chicken, or turkey (I used turkey); and 2 slices of cheese.
  • Top with remaining bread slices.
  • Cut each sandwich into halves.
  • Place a slice of pineapple (I used canned but fresh would taste better, I think) and one cherry on top, secure with a toothpick.

Yield: 8 sandwiches

What I used to do is take slices of Spam and simmer them in Sloppy Bob's Sauce. I used to fix them for Dad and me when I lived with him.

Another great recipe of mine:

Pate Pâté

I figure the best way to do it would be to use a reciprocating saw to saw around the circumference of my head. Anyway, scoop out the brains and add them to the bowl of a food processor.

1 pound bacon strips, diced
3 medium onions, chopped
3 cloves garlic
1 cup heavy cream
.5 cup milk
.75 cup butter
pinch of salt and pepper

Place bacon in a loarge skillet and cook until wilted. Add onion and garlic cloves. Cook until onion is soft. Set aside to cool.

Line a loaf pan with waxed paper and spray with cooking spray, set aside.

Process brains, with the bacon mixture until finely chopped, but not pureed.

Melt butter in skillet. Add the processed mixture, milk and cream. Cook until heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Pour into loaf pan. Chill several hours until firm.

I guess you could stuff my head with newspapers or something, stitch it back together and prop me up at the table when ready to serve. I probably won't be having any. But I sure hope you and Heidi enjoy this delicious Food OF Thoughts.
